Senior Bioacoustician & Ecologist
Cory Hom-Weaver is an acoustic ecologist with over 15 years of experience in passive acoustic research and data analysis. She specializes in the detection, classification, and localization of cetaceans using automated methods. Proficient in PAMGuard, Raven, R and other acoustic software, she has contributed to the development of classification algorithms for baleen whale calls. She has led acoustic teams on large-scale ecosystem surveys using towed arrays, drifting buoys, and moored recorders for data collection. She collaborates with multidisciplinary scientists, stakeholders, and decision-makers to inform and advance marine mammal conservation efforts.
At Ocean Science Analytics, Cory brings her expertise in acoustic methodologies, technical design of passive acoustic data collection systems, and project coordination to help deliver high-quality research that supports sustainable ocean management. She is passionate about OSA’s mission to combine research excellence with technical training, and is dedicated to fostering innovative, inclusive, and conservation-driven approaches to understanding our changing ocean.
In her free time, you can find her participating in local beach clean ups, surfing and exploring the natural world with her dog, Kaya.
